All us Kiwis know that we’re lucky to live in such a beautiful country.

Those who visit our shores usually head out on the highway and do a road trip. This post is to inspire both international visitors and locals alike with the stunning scenery that could be in store…

These photos are from a recent road trip I took in January (with place names and links where possible – just hover over the photo caption to see the links). My family and I took just over two weeks off work and drove approximately 2,000 kms in 17 days, driving down the North Island and then doing a loop in the South that took in Marlborough, Christchurch, the Nelson Lakes and Golden Bay/Motueka.

Our trip was reasonably idiosyncratic and I’ve posted my favourite landscape photos mainly – so no food shots (which may seem unusual for a food blog), but this post is about road-tripping (and maybe there’ll be another post about food stops later!)

So if you live here, or further afield have you yourself an adventure in the Land of the Long White Cloud… Aotearoa, and tell me about your own personal highlights and recommendations!
